Dead Rising 3
Many interesting and high-quality games have been released recently, but it can be difficult to write about them on a blank sheet of paper for the first time in a long time. Therefore, I am writing not about something new, but about the already well-forgotten (pose) of last year Dead Rising 3. A game that tried to be a "big" blockbuster with towers and zombies. You can find out why I couldn’t from this review:

10 years after the events in Fortune City, where are the rampaging zombies from the show "This cruel world"infected numerous inhabitants of the city, in a small Californian town with a cacophonous name Los Perdidos the tragedy repeated itself. Several tens of thousands of zombies broke free, and the survivors were locked in a city left to perish. Of course, the military lied on TV that the survivors were given the opportunity to get out, of course everyone had their own goals, of course the military shot at people who were still alive… Of course. Of course, everything seems a little more confusing and steeper than it really is.

Dead Rising 3 the same representative of the series who is trying to develop the ideas of previous games, but, either due to a lack of talent or time, the team cannot do it well enough. The game is about an ordinary car mechanic Nick Ramiros, which, unlike Chaka and his daughters, no need ZOMBREX (cure for zombie infection) because he is immune. The creators of the game themselves are trying to make Nick out to be a loser from the very beginning, and in terms of charisma, he falls far short of the photographer from the first part, and even of the aged Chuck, who has lost most of his cool, and appears in person at the end of the game. A weak main character whose “suffering” you don’t believe ruins all the screenwriters’ attempts to make the plot interesting. You can’t empathize with your fat friend and other survivors. The story fails so much in the middle that trying to pull it out with a farce near the end is pretty lame. Basically, everyone makes stupid and inappropriate jokes.

The previous parts, despite the funny costumes and fairly arcade gameplay, remained tragedies with an interesting plot. But the third part is neither fish nor fowl. The ending is a little small, moreover, all actions after the first half of the game are very predictable, with the exception of very stupid situations. There is no main villain, as such, and the few people who “play” for the bad guys are extremely poorly developed. Characters are brought into the picture simply out of a desire to show off someone new or old, and when they die or disappear from the story, there is no feeling beyond the desire to end the game as quickly as possible. The endings are not inspiring, and you don’t expect “unexpected” turns due to extreme boredom and disinterest in the game conflict. It is worth mentioning separately about "Psychos". In the last part, these included both plot bosses and “extraordinary” side. Here, it’s the side bosses that are considered “Psychos,” of which there are only seven. Each of them personifies a mortal sin and does not go beyond this idea. You won’t see any unexpected revelations, empathy or interweaving with the main plot. These are just exaggerated images. From a gameplay point of view – easy opponents (on normal difficulty). However, the presentation and unusual locations still distinguish them favorably from their plot enemies.

Things are also weird with the graphics. It does not amaze the eye, although at some moments the picture looks very stylish. The requirements are not that high, but relative to the graphics output they seem to be too high. It doesn’t stand out in anything special, muted tones and the absence of any serious accents on objects or colors, thank God, it doesn’t become an endless muddy mess. It’s worth mentioning about game effects. Some of them, especially the explosions, seem to have been ripped out of Saint’s Row.

But what gets in the way are bugs and glitches. Even though the game was released on PC a year after Xbox One their number in the first days was simply amazing. From optimization to gameplay, the game seemed to not want to be played. Endless crashes, lags, unstable co-op, is it a joke, when picking up certain items the game either froze or crashed, and these items were different, depending on the co-op or normal playthrough, one or the other did not work. And only after a couple of months, when the patches fixed most of the errors, and you could enter additional missions without the fear of losing all your progress after crashing, I was able to complete the game to the end. As a matter of fact, this is the main reason for such a long delay in the review.

The character can be fully upgraded https://betokaycasino.co.uk/ until the end of the game if you complete side quests and kill a couple of hundred zombies from time to time.

But we also need to say something good. Firstly, the game has, on the whole, a rather pleasant and uncomplicated “wanking” element. Obtaining “figurines”, destroying repeaters and assembling a team, although it takes a lot of time, still brings pleasure to those who love this business. Access to most of the elements is quite easy, but to get some you need to be smart, but a couple cannot be obtained without completing a side quest. This element is not necessary, but it is what is remembered after 50 hours of play. This makes the game similar to Far Cry 3. Exactly like a simple, but quite pleasant pumping. Levels are obtained by experience, which is given out for everything from killing zombies (the more powerful the walker and the cooler the club), ending with side quests and collected items. Many things are upgraded, from the speed and duration of running, to the size of the team and recipes for crafting. Moreover, having reached level 50, you can “upgrade” previously hidden “tops” of skills. And when you discover all the character’s capabilities, playing becomes much more fun. If you want, you build a huge club out of shit and sticks and go kill zombies, if you want, you can drive around in an immortal transport, or you can use all possible books at once.

You will definitely visit this place 30 times in the main campaign and a couple more times in additional ones.

The game world seems quite large, but only at first glance. Then, after studying the intricacies of the routes that go around the city and running around the local streets several times, you realize that there is really little usable space; most of the city is occupied by “empty” areas to which there is no access. I wouldn’t say that the city manages to get boring during the first playthrough, but during the playthrough of the DLS some places begin to irritate, and during the second playthrough they become downright infuriating.

In the main campaign GTA-similar missions to transfer equipment from one part of the city to another without serious damage are rare, but they are found in every DLC, and in the latter it occurs as many as three times and cannot be completed without a level 50 character, with indestructible equipment, and very direct hands (I’m not even talking about knowledge of the city, the map does not help).

Speaking of transport. The physics are smooth, but since the game doesn’t force you to use a car, and the distances are quite small, the level of anger Watch_dogs avoiding. Although you have to move around the city not so rarely. Traveling by vehicle is transformed when you realize that cars can be crafted (somewhere at the beginning I mentioned that Niko auto mechanic). Do you want a cross between a roller rink and an ambulance, which flattens tons of zombies with a roller, and protects the carcass of the main character with the ambulance body – please, you want a hellish motorcycle – no problem, and if things are really bad, then a car made of garbage will allow you, in any case, to remain king on the road… Among the zombies, because the few survivors, some of whom are hostile (for example Bikers), do not strive for the steering wheel and prefer to sit out at certain points.

The battles in the game are simple and the killstreak with combined weapons easily reaches 300. Finishing moves, for example shown in the screenshot, are quite pleasing to the eye.

In general, the gameplay is pleasant and even killing zombies with an ever-increasing killstreak counter is pleasing. In some ways this process is even more meditative than in Dead Island, the likelihood of dying is lower, and the pleasure from blood flying around is greater. And finishing moves add variety. Is in the game and QTE, but “quick events” here are woven into the combat and occur when a zombie captures you in its tenacious clutches. So it doesn’t cause irritation, as in some games.

It’s worth mentioning about co-op, because it’s playing together with a friend that is fully revealed. In some ways it resembles a cooperative from Dead Space 3 or already mentioned Far Cry 3. Together with a friend, you can go through all the missions of the campaign, except for the very first ones, although, with the same success, you can just wander around the city and collect collectibles that count towards both “survivors” at once. At the same time, as in Dead Space"in all cut scenes the partner “disappears” somewhere. Not surprisingly, the characters look like twin brothers and only great customization opportunities allow you to distinguish them from each other.

The music in the game is not memorable (unlike previous parts), as are the sounds (with the exception of the savory sounds of killing zombies). In general, the technical condition of the game at the moment is satisfactory, practically no bugs were noticed and nothing, except the plot, overshadows the gameplay.

Achievement:
Find all the endings without paying attention to the signs..
With its madness the game reminds Welcome to Zombieland, but the lack of plot dynamics and the weak main character do not allow us to talk about any borrowing of the good aspects of the film. The game doesn’t offer anything special, and it doesn’t provide any new gaming experience. I advise you to spend time with it only if you are a very big fan of open worlds, and all the “main” titles have already been completed. Fans of the series may find many off-putting moments in the game, but will definitely appreciate the improved gameplay and a large number of references to past parts.

Pros: open world, non-intrusive "wanking" element, combat, co-op, crafting and character customization.
Cons: Weak main character and main plot, inflated system requirements, bugs, unclear DLS.

Plot: 5 from 10, weak main character, disappointing plot.
Gameplay: 8 from 10, Light fap element, killstreaks, variety of vehicles and weapons, fun co-op.
Picture: 7 from 10, Not a real nextgen.
Sound: 7 from 10, Doesn’t irritate.
Technical execution: 4 from 10, a large number of bugs, customization for consoles, useless gameplay elements.
Zombie apocalypse: 6 from 10, there’s no depth here The Last of Us and gameplay Left 4 Dead, this is not even a full-fledged survival game, but when another survivor who climbed onto the car dies from his own stray bullet, exploding a red barrel. Do you feel… Something.

Bottom line: 6.2 from 10. You can find a better game.
